Patent Portfolio organization within Nokia Technologies manages Nokia's industry-leading patent portfolio.

We are looking for a motivated, seasoned patent professional to strengthen a team responsible for cellular Standard Essential Patents in litigation.

The role includes preparing assets for litigation, coordination of outside counsel work, as well as handling technical and patent related work across active litigation projects across jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate is a qualified patent attorney or legal professional with deep understanding of 3GPP technologies and over 10 years of experience in patent business including patent litigation. Experience with FRAND, SEP licensing, and project management is a plus.

The business title is subject to confirmation and may be defined in alignment with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications.


  • Identify & prepare patents for litigation

  • Validity & essentiality analysis, prosecution of litigation assets, preparation for legal actions

  • Being responsible for infringement and validity related matters/proceedings in patent litigation activities globally

  • Coordinating, guiding and reviewing external work


Ideally you are an experienced and passionate patent professional who excels at synthesizing technical & legal knowledge with strategic approach in a dynamic, global environment and has the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional hands-on experience in patent business at a law firm and/or inhouse
  • Experience in patent litigation
  • Engineering Degree in Telecommunications, Physics/Mathematics or equivalent, combined with European Patent Attorney or Law qualification
  • Understanding of 3GPP technologies
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Proactive, result-oriented, mindset with a strong drive to excel in high-pressure, high-stakes environment
  • Proven track record of resolving complex issues and strategy execution
  • Proven ability to navigate and organize work across multiple teams, disciplines, and stakeholders-facilitating seamless collaboration throughout project lifecycle
  • Great skills in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Project management experience
  • Understanding legal systems in a variety of jurisdictions
  • Initiative to develop new and better ways of doing things
  • Understanding of FRAND matters and SEP licensing framework
