PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides first level technical support for all surgical services systems. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all surgical services systems application.
  2. Responsible for the file maintenance of surgery patient tracking and clinical documentation computer system.
  3. Works closely with systems vendor for problem resolution.
  4. Assists staff with problem resolution, and coordinates interdepartmental issues relating to technical issues relating to clinical documentation and patient tracking systems and their use.
  5. Regularly communicates with system users to determine needs and potential enhancements.
  6. Responsible for communication and integration with non-automated units external to surgery including the reliability of data transfer to and from the ER and the floors, and the reliability of data transfer to support departments including, but not limited to, Pharmacy and Materials Management.
  7. Works with Surgical Services Senior Analysts in providing/creating specifications for routine and custom departmental reports using Crystal Report Writer and other database analysis and reporting tools as necessary.
  8. Develops tables and spreadsheets for any data-specific components of the surgical system; collaborates with clinicians, vendor staff, and others as necessary.
  1. Assists with implementation of all upgrades to patient tracking and surgery clinical documentation systems.
  1. Responsible for compiling all data for daily, bi-weekly and month end reporting.
  2. Works closely with Post Case Supervisor to identify educational opportunities for the data entry staff. Performs daily audits of electronic charts to ensure that correct charges are posted and processed.
  1. Works closely with the Senior Systems Analysts to redesign and maintain charging processes to optimize charge capture and process flow.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned.
  3. Demonstrates service excellence behaviors routinely in encounters with all customers, i.e., coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, auxilians, etc.

REQUIRED

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science or related field or Three (3) years healthcare systems experience, or five (5) years information systems experience.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

PREFERRED

  • Three (3) plus years healthcare financial or clinical systems experience (with B.S. Degree)
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Knowledge of McKesson applications
