Job Description

Perform skilled work at an advances journey level in the installation, operations, maintenance, service and repair of the microprocessor based distributed automation systems which control and monitor building heating, cooling, air-conditioning, laboratory systems, lighting, metering, life safety, security, and miscellaneous other building systems. Work is subject to inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade, but is primarily reviewed through observation of results.

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications

Personnel in the Building Controls System Technician employee development program:

  • This job is a promotional step from a Building Controls System Technician III job after successful completion of skill assessments and 1.5 years of experience as a Building Controls System Technician III.

All Personnel:

  • Seven years of experience in the skilled maintenance, installation and repair of distributed automation systems for buildings and associated electrical and pneumatic control equipment. Knowledge of building codes is preferred.
  • Skill in use and operation of tools, equipment and materials necessary to complete the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • A valid State of Missouri Driver's License must be held and maintained by incumbents in the position.
  • Ability to:
    • Grasp, lift, carry and set down objects of moderate weight (50 lbs.) on a regular basis
    • Grasp, lift and pull electrical/electronic cabling and wiring on a regular basis
    • Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and staging on an occasional basis
    • Ability to get into and work in hot, moist, confined spaces on an occasional basis
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $27.54-$32.12 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
