Position: Supplier Development Specialist

Reports to: Supplier Development Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for strategic supply base development to improve Tenneco's supply base, including on-site supplier assessments. Drives quality and productivity improvements at existing suppliers. Assesses new potential suppliers and deploys standardized supplier quality management systems.

Responsibilities



  • Identify new suppliers in alignment with new product performance requirements; actively participate in sourcing decisions and having supplier reviews with Program and Commodity Teams.
  • Track and monitor supplier performance and determine development steps as needed.
  • Complete on-site supplier assessments and control plan audits. Follow up to open action items.
  • Support global purchasing needs during supplier transitions, supplier rationalization and localization programs. Support commodity and program teams for resourcing activities
  • Support major internal and new customer projects initiated by Tenneco globally.
  • Support Tenneco plants and businesses on major critical quality, delivery and supplier issues;facilitate timely implementation of permanent corrective action and resolution.
  • Supports purchasing cost saving & VA/VE activities
  • Supports the Tenneco Plant as assigned to help resolve supplier issues and train as needed
  • Support with developing, improving and training Tenneco processes.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education/skills and Experience



  • B.S. Degree in a related Business or Technical discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years related work experience in quality, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  • Familiar with a range of materials and processes, e.g. steel, stamping, forging, machining, casting, cold heading, rubber, plastic, heat treating, and electromechanical products.
  • Experience with supplier assessment and audits, IATF and / or ISO audit certification desired.
  • Demonstrated ability and skills to support supplier development activities, continuous improvement initiatives and quality management tools.
  • APQP, PFMEA, MSA and Control Plan training and practical experience preferred.
  • 6Sigma certified (level of Green Belt) a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing,
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written (English is a must).


  • Demonstrated self-starter and able to work independently, as needed to execute strategies to meet goals.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability and skills of Kaizen and problem-solving methodologies (like 8D).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and automotive standards.



Travel

Ability to travel as required. Estimated 50 to 60%. International travel may be required
