Position Summary
The Medical
Education Program Manager provides high-level management and oversight of the
Department of Surgery's educational programs, including residency and
fellowship training, clerkships, and related academic initiatives. This
position ensures compliance with accreditation and institutional requirements,
coordinates program operations, and supports the development and continuous
improvement of surgical education across all levels of training.

The Medical Education Program Manager plays a critical role in supporting the
day-to-day operations of the education programs within the department, which
includes five residency programs (general surgery, otolaryngology, plastic and
reconstructive surgery, urology and vascular surgery), two fellowship programs
(acute care surgery and surgical oncology), medical student programs (clerkship
and sub-Is) and an APP fellowship.

Key
responsibilities include providing oversight and guidance to program
coordinators in managing daily residency and fellowship program operations,
ensuring adherence to ACGME, LCME, institutional, and departmental standards.;
supervise and provide leadership to program coordinators and administrative
staff, including training, performance management, and workflow oversight; serve
as the primary administrative liaison between program leadership, faculty,
institutional offices, and accrediting bodies; and work with coordinators to manage
educational budgets, track expenditures, and ensure appropriate allocation. In
addition to these leadership duties, the Medical Education Program Manager
directly coordinates the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program
(12 residents), supported by program staff.

candidate will be a dependable and results-driven professional who demonstrates
strong leadership, strategic decision-making, and team management skills, and
is able to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with
others.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are supervisory level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's
    degree
  • Proven experience supervising administrative and clerical staff, with a focus on team development and support
  • Experience with medical education
  • Exceptional
    written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient
    in drafting professional correspondence with strong command of grammar,
    punctuation, and spelling
  • Excellent
    organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage and
    prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient
    in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and cloud-based file
    management systems
