Job Summary

The Associate Counsel- ensures the organization's adherence to Nestle policies, legal standards and regulatory requirements within the scope of the legal and compliance function. This role is responsible for supporting the company's compliance program, including corporate compliance (i.e. Code of Conduct, ethics hotline, conflicts of interest, compliance policies and training), data privacy legal support, and emerging AI legal compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate compliance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and the evolving legal landscape around artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Compliance

  • Administer and monitor Nestle's compliance and ethics hotline, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of reported concerns.
  • Manage conflicts of interest disclosures and reviews.
  • Update, communicate and implement corporate compliance policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate, track and monitor compliance training programs to employees across the organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Organize Corporate Compliance Committee meetings, including drafting agenda and compliance reports, and supporting CLO in facilitating meetings.
  • Support records management, including updating and advising on Company records retention policy.
  • Other activities as determined by the Nestle USA (NUSA) Chief Legal Officer.

Data Privacy Legal Support

  • Work closely and collaboratively with business lawyers to assess data privacy risks and provide practical solutions to enable business objectives.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of data privacy policies and procedures in line with applicable U.S. laws (e.g., CCPA).
  • Collaborate with IT and legal teams to ensure proper handling of personal information; assist with privacy impact assessments and data mapping exercises.
  • Respond to data subject requests and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist with incident response and investigation of data privacy incidents
  • Monitor regulatory developments in data privacy and recommend updates to policies and practices.

AI Legal Support

  • Provide legal support on the use and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies within the organization.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging AI regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing AI-related policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Provide training on AI use, including risks and limitations.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure responsible and compliant AI practices.

Qualifications

  • JD degree required with license to practice in OH or VA as applicable; or ability to waive in.
  • Certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or data privacy roles.
  • Knowledge of corporate compliance programs, data privacy regulations, and AI legal/ethical frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
