EPI Power is looking for an experienced Energy Marshal to join our team. This crucial role is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the energy isolation and energization safety programs on large-scale data center projects. The Energy Marshal ensures all electrical safety protocols are properly implemented and maintained throughout construction and commissioning activities.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and open to relocating for future project needs.

Our organization is currently accepting applications for an outstanding Energy Marshal to be located on data center projects in IOWA and VIRGINIA

Position Overview

The Energy Marshal will oversee the Energy Marshal Program to ensure all proper safety precautionary measures are implemented in accordance with the Energy Isolation Plan, Energization Plan, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures defined in NFPA 70E. This role is key in coordinating with project teams to maintain compliance, prevent incidents, and promote a strong safety culture across all energy-related operations.

What You'll Do Every Day



  • Ensure safe working conditions by reviewing documentation, including procedures, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and permits.
  • Audit and monitor the energy program for both construction and commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe testing, validation, and operation of MEP systems.
  • Train new and existing employees on Energy Isolation processes and procedures.
  • Support the development and enforcement of electrical safety standards across the project site.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and best practices in electrical safety.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.



What We're Looking For

Education:



  • A college degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Process Engineering is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Experience:



  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in industrial or commercial field engineering within mission-critical facilities or electrical infrastructure.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience developing and supporting electrical safety programs aligned with NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience managing the Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE) in complex, mission-critical environments.


Skills:



  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, and construction drawings).
  • Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application of critical electrical systems (e.g., paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source utility switchgear, standby generators, etc.).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive approach to safety and compliance.


Technology:



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of MEP system operations, including power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, security, and life safety systems.
  • Practical experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), automation, and control frameworks.
