Job Description

The primary purpose of the Cost Accounting Manager is to ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the company's books and records and will play a critical role in supporting financial accounting and controls for Apertures manufacturing locations. The Cost Accounting Manager also has the responsibility to ensure consistent and effective compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Company policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures consistent application of financial (US GAAP), internal policies and internal controls.
  • Performs activities related to the period-end close process including, but not limited to, running reports, preparing journal entries, preparing accruals, preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements, and account reconciliations.
  • Supports Operations and other function areas to ensure there is a sufficient review of transactions and financial information to identify and resolve potential material errors, omissions, or misstatements.
  • Ensures there is clear and timely communication of emerging issues, significant business transactions and operational trends that have accounting implications to the appropriate level of leadership, Operational Finance and other functions.
  • Ensures internal control documentation is complete and accurate and ensures timely remediation and follow-up on identified control deficiencies.
  • Supports the development of costing models for direct materials, direct labor, fixed / variable overhead. This includes setting standard costs where applicable.
  • Analyses the accuracy of labor and overhead rates applied to the manufacturing process and supports periodic cost updates as needed.
  • Performs analytical and accounting processes to ensure the manufacturing costs are accurately reflected throughout each stage of the manufacturing process.
  • Supports Operations Leadership to validate manufacturing costs (including components of cost of sales) and maintain bills of material, product routings, material, labor and overhead costs.
  • Performs analytical and reporting processes to ensure visibility to cost flows (materials consumption, absorption of labor and overhead, etc.) and the drivers of significant variances.
  • Collects and analyzes data to drive the inventory revaluation processes and standard cost rolls.
  • Supports Operations Leadership and Operations Finance in the analysis and reporting of plant-level performance including presentations to Operations, Finance and Accounting leadership.
  • Supports Operations Management and Operations Finance Partner in the preparation of forecasts and the annual operating budget.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 plus years of progressive accounting experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • A proven history of establishing, documenting, and implementing well-defined accounting and control procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a project team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. Ability to manage to a plan.
  • A CPA or CMA is highly preferred with fluency in cost and operational accounting.
  • All Microsoft Office products proficiency desired.


Additional Information

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000-$140,000 + bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
