Position Summary

Oceaneering Technologies (OII-OTECH) supports the US Navy's submarine rescue mission through the Submarine Rescue Operations and Maintenance Contract (SROMC). Oceaneering partners with the Navy's Undersea Rescue Command (URC) to provide 24/7 world-wide submarine rescue capability to US, allied and other foreign navy requests to assist disabled submarines (DISSUB) or submersible intervention and rescue.

OII OTECH is seeking an Intervention Lead Technician who will oversee and manage the U.S. Navy's unique undersea Intervention systems and rescue supporting equipment. The Intervention Lead Technician will report to the Operations Manager (OM) and will work closely with the customer to execute undersea system operational performance, Intervention system upkeep, and training qualifications. The position will also directly participate and oversee operations and watch standing while embarked on working vessels during at sea operations.


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance, employment, and operation of all U.S. Navy Intervention systems to include:
    - Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV).
    - Side Looking Sonar (SILOS).
    - Light Weight Mooring System (LWMS).
    - Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB).
    - Rescue Support Equipment.
  • Ensure proper setup, configuration, and functionality of equipment per Operating Procedures prior to use.
  • Be familiar with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) requirements as they relate to installing and operating Intervention Systems on a vessel.
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance of Intervention systems is conducted per maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct corrective maintenance on Intervention assets as required.
  • Report status of all Intervention assets to Operations Manager.
  • Report any corrective maintenance actions and log all corrective maintenance performed in the CSMP.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, operational logs, and inspection reports.
  • Monitor asset condition to maximize operational availability and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to align asset deployment with mission requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise during planning, mobilization, and execution of operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time to ensure mission success.
  • Enforce safe work practices in all operations and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures during training, maintenance, and operations.
  • Manage spare parts, consumables, and supply chain requirements for intervention assets.
  • Prepare equipment readiness reports and operational after-action reports to the Operations Manager as directed.
  • Maintain documentation as required for regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the customer and SROMC functional areas for all Intervention assets.
  • Collaborate with SROMC logistics, engineering, training, and maintenance teams to meet customer objectives.
  • Communicate operational requirements, progress updates, and technical considerations to all stakeholders.
  • Liaison with ROV Planning Yard for technical guidance as required.
  • Ensure customer feedback is captured, communicated, and integrated into operational improvements.
  • Qualify for and be prepared to stand the watch of Intervention Officer.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the development of operational plans for employing Intervention assets.
  • Coordinate and lead efforts to ensure Intervention equipment is packed in a rescue ready configuration to support Mod Alerts.
  • Supervise and assist in the pack out of Intervention assets for flyaway operations.
  • Supervise and support the mobilization of Intervention assets onto a vessel of opportunity (VOO).
  • Coordinate with Training Manager to setup training for SROMC Intervention Watch Standers.
  • Be prepared to lead Intervention Operations while underway on a VOO.
  • Be prepared to support the Maintenance Department as a qualified craftsman from time to time as directed by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible, on-site experience in a technical maintenance field or underwater robotics.
  • Proficiency with a variety of field concepts, practices, procedures and equipment operations such as GPS, Side Scan Sonars, ROV and Launch and Recovery Systems, and Hyperbaric chamber systems.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member ashore and afloat aboard working vessels.
  • Availability for extensive travel and the ability to work away from home for periods up to 45 days.
  • Able to interpret complex schematics.
  • Able to follow follow written and verbal procedures.
  • Above average skills in technical maintenance.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.
  • A current valid U.S. passport is required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Requires the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.

DESIRED:

  • Technical Associates Degree or tech trade school preferred.
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Base pay rate for this position is $40 to $50.
