Regional Operations/Sales Manager

Position Type: Full Time/Exempt

Reports To: Senior VP

R.E. Michel Company, LLC, a leading HVACR wholesale distributor with over 300 locations coast to coast is currently seeking a professional Director of Branch Operations.

Please note: The position requires frequent in-person interaction with customers and employees, extensive travel, and regular attendance at the corporate office/CD.

General Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Director of Branch Operations oversees the performance, profitability, and efficiency of all company branches. This role involves collaborating with Regional and Branch Managers to set and achieve goals for sales, staffing, inventory, and overall branch performance, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. The Director also works closely with the Director of Sales to meet revenue and gross profit targets and contributes to company-wide strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee branch operations to ensure profitability, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Regional and Branch Managers to maintain optimal inventory levels, meet sales and profit goals, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to achieve company growth objectives and strengthen relationships with key accounts.
  • Direct recruitment, training, and development of branch personnel; support workforce planning and resolve personnel issues as needed.
  • Manage branch assets, facilities, vehicles, and payroll budgets to maximize productivity and control costs.
  • Coordinate branch and product training programs; ensure adherence to safety, credit, and operational standards.
  • Assist in developing annual sales and operating budgets and evaluate opportunities for branch expansion.
  • Monitor audits, inventory accuracy, and compliance with credit and financial policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making abilities with a collaborative, team-oriented management style.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport with diverse teams and customers.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, products, and related parts.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, including budgets, P&L statements, and gross profit analysis.
  • Proven experience managing personnel, enforcing policies, and maintaining a professional, customer-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with inventory and branch management systems; ability to interpret operational data and reports.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical and equipment-sizing calculations.
  • Knowledge of all equipment, parts and supplies offered by the Company. Ability to cross reference parts between suppliers.


This position requires extensive travel to company branches and the ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, push, and pull as needed. The Director must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods and walk long distances. The role also demands flexibility to work extended hours, when necessary, willingness to travel as required, and the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
