Essential Job Duties	Join NC State's Utilities and Engineering Department, where your expertise helps power a thriving campus community. We're seeking a dedicated and skilled Utilities Line Technician II to help maintain and enhance the University's electrical power system, supporting over 2,000 acres of facilities, classrooms, and research spaces. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient power distribution across all NC State campuses. If you take pride in technical precision, problem-solving, and teamwork, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the daily life and operations of the Wolfpack community. *Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:* Construct, operate, maintain, and repair the university's electrical power systems, including both underground and overhead lines. Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and facilities across all campuses (North, South, Central, CVM, Arboretum, Stadium, and Centennial). Operate, maintain, and repair campus emergency generators. Maintain and repair campus street and area lighting systems. Construct and install power system components, equipment, and facilities to deliver electric service to new and existing buildings. Inspect systems to determine maintenance needs and establish repair priorities. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues using diagnostic instruments, including Fluke meters, voltmeters, and power meters, as well as computer tracking software. Identify and mitigate safety hazards related to electric shock, falls, burns, and chemical exposure. Plan and execute daily work activities efficiently to meet department objectives. Operate specialized equipment, including a line truck, as required. Collaborate with other power distribution electricians and escalate complex issues to a supervisor or team lead as needed. Lift up to 90 pounds, with work that may involve climbing, heights, and year-round outdoor conditions. This posting is for current permanent NC State University employees only. Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education	High school diploma or equivalency and six months of electrical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Maintains required certification(s).
Preferred Qualifications	Must be able to construct and install power system components, equipment, and facilities to provide electric service to new and existing buildings. Experience in underground and overhead power distribution systems.
Required License or Certification	Commercial driver's license Class A. NC CDL within 60 days of hire.
