Job Overview

The SVP, Executive Creative Director (ECD) will inspire, lead, and build best-in-class breakthrough creative integrated marketing campaigns and ensure a cohesive and innovative brand presence across various consumer touchpoint and platforms.

What You Will Do



  • Provide visionary leadership to the creative team, setting strategic direction and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence
  • Promote creative improvement and development contributing to a culture of innovation, excellence and accountability
  • Create unique value propositions based on unmet human needs, societal trends, and product proof points
  • Articulate compelling insights-based narratives and create visual expressions that resonate with customers and drive brand love
  • Define and create aspirational worlds of meaningful equities for our brand
  • Orchestrate brand-defining creative solutions that address strategic business objectives
  • Develop creative concepts that differentiate the brand and resonate with the target audience
  • Develop key messaging and positioning that effectively communicates the brand's value proposition
  • Utilize consumer insights and market data to inform creative decisions and refine campaign strategies
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in advertising and creative strategy
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to Macy's CMO and senior leadership, offering valuable insights and recommendations on creative direction and marketing strategies
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment by cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders across departments and levels of the organization, ensuring cohesive brand experiences
  • Lead the conceptualization and execution of all advertising campaigns, including print, digital, and video content, ensuring alignment with brand standards and strategic objectives
  • Ensure consistency in brand messaging, imagery, and tone across all creative deliverables, maintaining brand integrity and cohesion
  • Collaborate with external partners, agencies, and vendors to enhance Macy's creative capabilities and expand its reach and impact in the market
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the marketplace
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the creative team, instilling a commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering best-in-class creative solutions
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.


Skills You Will Need

Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute creative strategies that align with overarching marketing objectives and brand vision. A strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making, continuously striving for measurable results.

Inspirational Leadership: Proven track record of providing visionary leadership to creative teams, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams including marketing, merchandising, and digital departments to ensure cohesive brand experiences.

Brand Development: Expertise in driving the development of visually compelling assets and multimedia content that resonate with target audiences, reinforcing brand identity and values.

Talent Development: Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing creative teams, fostering professional growth and succession planning.

Communication: Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, enabling the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.

Efficient Project Management: Strong project management skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 10-15 years of combined experience in creative leadership roles, with a significant portion in agency settings.
  • 10+ years of experience with a proven track record of success in leading creative teams within advertising or marketing agencies, working with diverse clients and industries.
  • 5+ years of experience in retail or consumer-focused environments, demonstrating an understanding or retail-specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
