SUMMARY

  • The Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing and proactive coordination of Grady's RAC appeals processes and CMS related regulations. The coordinator will communicate directly with all appropriate department i.e. Case Management, Coding, Business Office, Revenue Integrity, and Finance. This position is responsible for assuring timely and synchronized responses to RAC audit requests, Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRG) Audit Requests, Outpatient Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) Requests and any Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs). The Coordinator maintains reports which accurately track all RAC, DRG, APC and ADR requests, correspondence, actions and outcomes. This position requires effective communication with all RAC and other Audit Request stakeholders along with excellent organization skills to ensure timeliness and accuracy of response requests, as well as continual program development through training and process improvement. Ability to prepare data analysis and reporting for department leadership on a regular basis. This position must develop subject matter expertise on assigned core business areas, including but not limited to a thorough understanding of available software and data analysis and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Associate Degree in healthcare, business, or related field
* Bachelor s Degree preferred
* Licensed in a clinical discipline, or certified as a Health Information Technician or Coding Professional preferred
* Minimum of three (3) years experience with acute care inpatient and outpatient settings
* Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT, and MS-DRG/APC classifications and reimbursement methodologies
* Data management experience for report writing and tracking
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is a must
* Previous experience using computerized systems for health information storage and retrieval
* Experience with paper, computerized and hybrid medical records
* Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred: Experience with data analytics and making data-driven recommendations.
