We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated R&D Graduate intern to join our compound semiconductor microelectronics research and development team. Those seeking an advanced degree in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or closely related discipline are encouraged to apply. We work in a highly collaborative team environment to conduct III-V compound semiconductor research and development using molecular beam epitaxy and microfabrication processes for a wide variety of optoelectronic and microelectronic devices with direct, relevant impact to our national security mission. This position provides the opportunity to develop epitaxial processes, incorporate novel epitaxy into high performance devices, and evaluate device characteristics to improve epitaxy. The work is focused on the mixed arsenide-antimonide III-V material system. Additional responsibilities will include material characterization, and the interpretation and use of material and device test data to improve growth processes and device epitaxial design. This position requires a combination of individual contribution and collaboration with other Sandia technical staff across the laboratory. Students are offered hands-on, flexible, challenging, interesting, and cutting-edge research opportunities while being mentored by Sandia National Laboratories scientists and engineers. These direct experiences are supplemented with technical seminars and facility tours to expose students to the broad range of engineering and scientific disciplines represented at Sandia.
