Your role

The Cost Accountant plays a key role in managing and analyzing all aspects of product costing, inventory valuation, and cost control within a manufacturing environment. This position partners closely with operations, engineering, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost data, identify opportunities for efficiency, and support strategic decision-making. You will report to the Business Controller.

You will:

  • Input data into financial reporting system (GPS)
  • Forecast expenses by cost center
  • Prepare monthly reports comparing actuals to forecasts
  • Explain forecast variances
  • Manage work orders for equipment, R&D, and service projects
  • Review work orders with responsible parties
  • Coordinate time tracking and posting against projects
  • Evaluate project profitability
  • Review standard vs. actual cost variances
  • Regularly review and update standard costs
  • Analyze and explains cost variances
  • Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting
  • Evaluate and monitor internal controls related to costing, reporting, and project management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CMA or CPA license, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience; minimum of 3 years of experience working with standard costing
  • 3+ years working with ERP systems
  • Proficient in Excel; experience in other Microsoft applications
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our (insert organization here) inNew Hudson, United States (US).
