What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: $81,000 - $93,000

Overview

We're looking for a detail-orientated and motivated Regulatory Specialist to join our team! In this role, you'll support the company's participation in regulatory proceedings and compliance with commission requirements. This role prepares and coordinates filings, assists with testimony and exhibits, and provides guidance on regulatory and tariff matters under the direction of senior leadership. You'll monitor regulatory developments, conduct research and analysis to inform company positions, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment on filings and compliance obligations.

Work Location and Schedule

  • Primarily based at our Covina, California location
  • 9/80 work schedule - 9 hour work days from Monday to Thursday and 8 hour working Fridays, with every other Friday off
  • May require local travel to other locations within our service areas in Southern California

What You'll Do

  • Participate in the preparation and submission of high-quality, well-written regulatory filings including advice letters, comments, and responses to data requests.
  • Prepare regulatory applications, including developing, drafting, and editing testimony and supporting exhibits.
  • Support compliance with regulatory guidelines, deadlines, and procedural requirements.
  • Collaborate successfully with internal teams to ensure alignment on regulatory initiatives.
  • Propose and modify tariffs to comply with commission decisions and support company objectives.
  • Participate in external stakeholder engagements, including workshops, hearings, and advocacy efforts.
  • Research and prepare draft regulatory and tariff interpretation for internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track regulatory proceedings, rulemakings, and legislative developments that may impact the company's operations.
  • Maintain organized records and documentations of filings, proceedings, and regulatory correspondence in accordance with company policies.

What You'll Bring

Experience:



  • 2+ years of experience in business-related writing, with demonstrated experience preparing written materials such as technical, legal, or policy documents



Education:



  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Business, Economics, Political Science, or related field (or paralegal certificate)



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong written communication and technical writing skills for preparing regulatory filings, reports, and supporting testimony.
  • Advanced reading comprehension to interpret and apply regulatory decisions, statutes, and commission orders.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with internal and external teams.
  • Skill in analyzing policy, legal, and technical information.
  • Ability to conduct structured research on regulatory and legislative issues.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, deadlines, and communications with efficiency.
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced work, shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of utility regulatory processes, commission procedures, and administrative requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Work Environment and Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional lifting of office materials or equipment up to 20 pounds may be required
  • Requires virtual and in-person meetings with internal and external teams
  • Some travel required, primarily within the state
