Job Summary
This role is responsible for partnering with the Senior Manager, ISO, EHS & Security in driving the Melrose Park site's commitment to safety and excellence. As the subject matter expert for the site, they will be at the heart of fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance that resonates throughout the company. Each day, they have the incredible opportunity to inspire, coach, mentor, and train employees while guiding them toward achieving exceptional standards in Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance. To accomplish this, they will use analytical skills in prevention and mitigation techniques to reduce the risk. Their day-to-day will be a dynamic blend of responsibilities. They will act as a liaison for the branch where they will communicate Environmental, Health, and Safety topics to the local management team during meetings and employee huddles, as well as escalate communication on Environmental, Health, and Safety issues for the branch that may include: incident management, injuries, vehicle/ property incident, or regulatory agency's inspections/fines.
Responsibilities
1) Identifies EHS issues that are essential for full compliance and conformance to existing and planned business development. 2)Works with Sr. Manager to guide local personnel with EHS responsibilities (Line Management/Supervision) to ensure a standard approach to the implementation of EHS programs and procedures. 3)Works with local Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Laboratory, and Production/Supply Chain groups to address EHS project issues to ensure that EHS concerns are considered at the design stage and that adequate funds are included within projects' capital appropriation requests to prevent costly retrofits. 4)Work with local management, landlord (property management) and building engineering / maintenance on a continuous basis to establish accurate programs and budgets for compliance with Directives, Laws, and Regulations, Global / Corporate Standards, and other EHS mandates and/or needs. 5)Provides in-house expertise, consultation, technical skills and know-how resources to all Melrose Park departments to maintain a standard approach to problem-solving and the early introduction of EHS safeguards for new machinery, equipment, processes, and instrumentation. 6)Works with the Senior Manager to develop local EHS action plans on an annual basis to anticipate estimated expenditure and to allow adequate resources to be allocated to enable completion of established EHS objectives. 7)Provides for effective integration of EHS issues into local business operations and contribute recommendations to key stakeholders for Site budgetary consideration, EHS review of local projects and involvement in Environmental Program and Periodic Facility Meetings. 8)Collects, analyzes and communicates statistical data, metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and Occupational Injuries / Illnesses' Surveys, related to all EHS incident occurrences to Local Management, Regional EHS, and Global EHS. 9)Assist Human Resources (HR) in the enforcement of general company work rules impacting EHS. 10)Develops and maintains Emergency Action Plans and facilitates emergency responses and training [i.e. serve as incident commander' coordinate with landlords for fire drills, etc.]. 11)Provides and facilitates training to emergency responders and develops EHS general awareness and specific training for the employee population, including new employee EHS orientations, respirator fit-testing, reduce environmental pollution, and similar mandatory EHS training / onboarding as needed. 12)Guide and support site EHS investigations, including misconduct, gross negligence, property damage, work-related accidents, occupational injuries & illnesses, near misses, regulatory violations, maintenance of OSHA-300 Logs, OSHA 300A Summaries, OSHA 301 Reports, Workers' Compensation filings and claim management. 13)All employees are responsible for ensuring the compliance to company documents, programs and activities related to the Health, Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality Management Systems, as per your roles and responsibilities
