The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

Job Profile Summary:

Under the general direction of a designated supervisor, the Admissions Officers perform duties related to the admission of students to the University, in accordance with University and Department policies. They make timely, accurate, and fair decisions for all applicants. Furthermore, they communicate that decision and its implications with students and staff in a clear and concise manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Processes admissions applications in accordance with University and Colleges' policies, goals, and rules on admissibility of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Advises applicants regarding admissions requirements, eligibility for admission, program options, and other matters related to their admission to the University.
  • Serves as a resource to students, parents, the University community, High Schools, and other feeder institutions regarding admission to the University.
  • Keeps informed regarding academic program requirements, enrollment restrictions, and other issues related to recruiting and admitting students.
  • Assists in maintaining and updating admission records and files.
  • Responds to all emails, cases, and admission decision inquiries promptly.
  • Reviews appeals to admissions decisions and/or requirements.
  • Evaluate and authenticate applicants' transcripts, diplomas, and other documentation.
  • Work with external agencies, schools, and credentialing organizations to confirm document validity.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement fraud prevention strategies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Admissions Leadership.

  • Ability to evaluate a prospective student's application as part of the admissions decision process.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of enrollment or admissions experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position & Application Details
