Purpose/role of the position within the organization:

The Office of the President is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student employee to support daily operations, special projects, and campus engagement initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in administrative support, event coordination, and professional communication within a fast-paced executive office environment. The student employee will gain valuable insight into college leadership and operations while contributing to meaningful campus projects.

This is an in-person position reporting to the Administrative Operations Coordinator in the Office of the President.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and organizing office materials.
  • Provide front desk coverage, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
  • Assist with student town halls and other events, including preparing materials, setting up the space, and managing event logistics.
  • Assist with maintaining organized office spaces, supply inventory, and shared work areas.
  • Draft and send email reminders and announcements as directed.
  • Help manage scheduling logistics (room reservations, meeting set-up). Update and maintain databases, contact lists, and other office records.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the President's Office.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a current student enrolled at Tacoma Community College.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with students, employees, and visitors.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in an office, administrative, or customer support setting.
  • Experience supporting events or outreach activities.
  • Familiarity with data entry, record-keeping, or office management systems.
  • Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Experience using email communication tools for professional correspondence.

Required conditions of employment:
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
  • Must be a current TCC student.

Terms of Employment
This part-time student hourly positions are bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above. Scheduled to work up 16 hours per week and on a quarter-by-quarter basis. The work location is the TCC main campus, Office of the President in building 12. The salary is $20.00-$20.00 per hour. TCC Part-time hourly and student employees including work study students, will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Hourly non-student employees may be applicable for comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance. Life and long- term disability insurance plans and retirement benefits are also provided.
