Lubbock Senior Study Abroad Advisor 42673BR International Affairs Position Description Advises individuals on the study abroad process. Performs specialized, complex work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. May supervise student assistants. Performance is based on individual effectiveness and overall results obtained. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. Major/Essential Functions Manage all aspects of customized, credit-bearing faculty-led study abroad programs to include program development, faculty support, administration, and evaluation. Work directly with faculty to develop and maintain faculty-led study abroad programs. Advise faculty on the program proposal process, student recruitment and outreach, the application review process, on-site logistics, university policies, and emergency and financial management of programs. Negotiate with third parties to provide logistical support and assist with program budget development. Collaborate with faculty to prepare content for program marketing materials. Oversee study abroad applications for all faculty-led study abroad programs. Review student applications. Conduct workshops and orientations for faculty leaders and students. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interact with students and parents to explain the study abroad process. Possess thorough knowledge of study abroad processes and issues, especially in the area of credit transfer. Ability to work effectively with faculty and administrators. Have excellent attention to detail. Proven ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and follow instructions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or progressively responsible related experience to equal six (6) years. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in related field plus two (2) or more years of related professional experience in international education or student affairs. Significant international experience living, working or studying abroad.
