About the Position

The GIS Analyst plays a key role in supporting the organization's geospatial needs through the effective use of the Esri platform and GIS technology. This position is responsible for editing and managing GIS layers, performing spatial analysis, creating clear and professional map products, and supporting interactive web mapping applications. The GIS Analyst collaborates with internal teams and external partners to gather requirements and deliver tailored geospatial solutions that support planning, operations, and decision-making.

This position also provides support for emergency management efforts, including planning and response activities, and may be required to respond to incidents as part of the on-call team. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support departmental goals.

We Require

  • Two years of experience working with GIS applications or similar

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Engineering, Computer Science, or related

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of Esri GIS software and tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Experience Builder, and related components of the ArcGIS platform

  • Willingness and availability to serve in an on-call capacity to support Emergency Management planning, exercises, and incident response as needed

We Also Value:

  • Experience working in Emergency Management and/or Planning and Development environments.

  • Familiarity with automating GIS workflows using tools such as Arcade, Python, ModelBuilder, or similar scripting and automation techniques.

  • Experience working in government or a large enterprise environment

Job Contributions

  • Develop and Maintain GIS Layers: Edit and manage GIS feature classes and layers, and access, interpret, and analyze geospatial datasets stored in enterprise systems or public repositories. Ensure proper attribution, alignment with project needs, and support for data-driven decision-making.

  • Perform Spatial Analysis: Use GIS tools to conduct spatial queries, overlays, buffers, and other geoprocessing operations to solve geographic problems or answer spatial questions.

  • Create Professional Maps and Visualizations: Design clear, accurate, and visually appealing maps, charts, and web maps using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online.

  • Support Web Maps and Applications: Build and configure interactive web maps, story maps, and dashboards using ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, or similar tools.

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal teams or external partners to understand GIS requirements and deliver tailored geospatial solutions.

  • On call for Emergency Management planning and response for exercises and incidents.

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

  • Hybrid/Telework is available for this position after a breif training period

  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
