Job Overview:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing material inventory levels within assigned categories. This role manages inventory to meet target levels, creates and monitors purchase orders, maintains tracking systems, and serves as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding inquiries, issues, returns, and quality concerns.

Responsibilities:


  • Daily placement of new orders for multiple business units to ensure capacity (labor and machine), materials and design are available to meet customer requested dates.

  • Responsible for supplier relationship management and executing buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost and quality.

  • Owns and resolves the daily tactical supply chain issues such as backorder resolution, open order expediting, lead time management, supplier production issues, cancels/defers etc. Proactive reviews to identify potential constraints (disruptions in supply) and prevent/minimize stock-outs.

  • Responsible for analysis of delivery issues and corrective actions to implement in order to improve metric performance; includes working with engineering and receiving on issues resulting from supplier quality variances.

  • Work with Master Planner, planning and operations team weekly to understand longer term demand requirements and ensure raw material supply plan can support business plan.

  • Track and maintain necessary market trends and industry conditions; provide forecasts on a regular basis; and track vendors in relation to government contracts held by the company within procurement.

  • Involvement in project buying in relation to specific business units within the company.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study; comparable combination of education and years of experience will be considered; MBA a plus

  • Level of Experience: 6+ years

  • Demonstrated comprehension and experience with various business models and their effect on supply chain structure, planning and execution; APICS/CPIM certification desirable

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and adjust those priorities to maximize outcomes.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint; MRP/ ERP systems

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements


  • This position is fully remote.



Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $76,500-$85,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
