The Corporateoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aStaff Accountantto join our team.



Working with us you will:



  • Work with Accounting or Operational Management staff to develop and communicate financial information, plans and projections.
  • Apply accounting theory to develop financial reports, reviewing the underlying support for consistent application of generally accepted accounting principles and company policy.
  • Review financial reports and objectively relate the results to on-going operations for consistency and reasonableness.
  • Assist with payroll, general accounting, financial or project reporting or taxes.
  • Prepare and/or process month-end journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Play a role in the development and mentoring of junior staff.



An ideal candidate has:



  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of professional experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, experience with current information systems (e.g., Deltek Vision and Ultimate Software).
  • The ability to work in a team environment and strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • The ability to use professional/technical knowledge and skills to design solutions.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, management, clients, other offices, etc. in a courteous and professional manner.
  • The ability to present complex issues/data with high level of clarity and impact.
  • Sufficient knowledge to administer payroll, accounts payable and other financial processes on an as needed basis.

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $62,000 to $69,000 annually and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus each year.
