Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical execution of complex, multidisciplinary nuclear systems engineering projects.
  • Ensure alignment of engineering solutions with program objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable and traceable design inputs.
  • Resolve technical issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Drive the BGS design process and ensure integration across engineering disciplines, subcontractors, vendors, and constructors.
  • Facilitate collaboration across the supply chain to ensure cohesive technical execution.
  • Support project management by identifying and mitigating technical and schedule-related risks.
  • Monitor project critical path items and provide strategic recommendations to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Partner with project managers to make informed adjustments to plans and priorities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a highly complex, regulated, multidisciplinary product development environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of full system designs from concept through delivery preferred.
  • Strong systems thinking with practical design, analysis, and integration experience.
  • Familiarity with basic project management principles (scheduling, resource estimation, risk mitigation).
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, FEA, and design documentation best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and interface effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience in a highly regulated or safety-critical industry (nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical) is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated culture such as a nuclear culture delivering customer expectations to meet Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid position based at the BGS corporate office, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
  • Schedule is Part-time, Monday - Friday work hours based on project.
