GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the management of the Systems Engineering Department. Management responsibilities include assigning resources to various engineering projects and developing those resources to meet the needs of the business. The role involves close collaboration with the Sales, Business Development, Program Management, Contracts and Design teams to coordinate research and development activities while applying innovative, technologically advanced solutions to complex systems engineering challenges. The Systems Engineering Manager supervises the Systems Engineering group to ensure that systems and processes developed achieve engineering objectives while supporting company initiatives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Improve the Systems Engineering Department's effectiveness in the areas of quality, productivity, traceability and innovation in system design and integration.
- Establish and monitor departmental goals in alignment with company objectives.
- Develop and maintain departmental procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Direct the efforts of the Systems Engineering Department, including supervision of staff and associated personnel actions.
- Assign resources to projects and assist in scheduling to meet project timelines and deliverables. Provide guidance and resolve systems engineering challenges.
- Ensure adequate training and professional development for personnel.
- Ensure the availability of tools and infrastructure necessary for the Systems Engineering team to meet departmental objectives.
- Coordinate with other departments to address inter-departmental and project-specific issues.
- Support the Sales and Business Development team in proposal development and engineering estimates.
- Attend project kick-off meetings and participate in design reviews with customers to ensure alignment with requirements and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
- Master's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience (i.e. PE, PMP, INCOSE Certification) preferred.
- Minimal 10 years of engineering experience.
- 3 years of direct supervision preferred.
- Ability to develop and present formal presentations.
- Ability to lead engineering teams.
- Ability to manage conflict.
- Ability to develop others.
- Ability to plan and organize projects.
WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Office environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
