Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Accounting department based in Herndon, VA.

You will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of General Ledger (GL) activities, contributing to a robust and timely month-end close, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and US GAAP when applicable, as well as Airbus Group Accounting Manual. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Your Challenges:

General Ledger and Closing Process: 50%

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process by performing key accounting activities related to G/L and cost centers, such as preparing entries, clearing accounts, certain fixed assets activities, and running other GL activities (allocation cycles, generating reports, etc).

  • Provide financial data to management by researching transactions and preparing analyses for the financial statements, including the balance sheet and profit and loss statement.

  • Perform quality checks on financial data to help ensure accuracy and integrity.

  • Participate in closing meetings for the assigned scope, providing updates on deliverables and escalating issues and propose adequate resolutions

  • Assist in identifying risks and opportunities during the closing process by highlighting unusual variances or potential issues.

  • Provide support during internal and external audits, tax deliverables in addition to other adhoc info requests (Census reports, misc surveys, etc.)

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: 30%

  • Assist with monthly preparation of financial statements on consolidation tools and periodic reporting packages.

  • Prepare account reconciliations and analyses to ensure accuracy and ensure alignment with Internal Control requirements by Airbus Group and IFCS (International Finance Controls and Standards).

  • Develop a strong understanding of GL processes and assist with troubleshooting issues.

  • Follow internal control procedures in accordance with management expectations; ensure continuous compliance through daily transactions.

  • Assist in the review of current policies to identify improvements,

  • Prepare data and schedules that support reporting materials for senior leaders.

Transformation projects: 20%

  • Contribute as a member of the US One Roof, Shared Services Accounting in the USA, ensuring coordination with key stakeholders in Finance and other Corporate functions such as HR, Procurement...

  • Assist in the accurate reporting of legal entities by preparing schedules and supporting documentation for various governance bodies,

  • Ensure alignment with accounting standards and methodologies applied within the Airbus Group.

  • Support the implementation of SAP system enhancements and Digitalization finance projects with contribution to the users tests and acceptance,

  • Ensure compliance with segregation of duties and internal controls rules in daily work.

  • Provide support to other departments in special projects as needed.

Your Boarding Pass:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

  • 3 to 5 years experience in either finance, accounts payable, and/or GL accounting in a commercial or industrial environment involving tight deadlines

  • 5% Domestic and International Travel involved

  • Authorized to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship

  • Solid understanding of IFRS/US GAAP, and general accounting principles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Curious and creative, works independently and adapts to new situations quickly

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Google sheets/MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience in an international environment

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 60%

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents and reports/

  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.

  • Travel: able to travel independently

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
