The Field Project Superintendent - Service is a key leader in driving world-class performance across our service projects. Responsible for overseeing HVAC and mechanical service work for commercial and industrial clients, this role ensures jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. From managing field crews and scheduling resources to mentoring technicians and supporting customer relationships, you'll play a central role in delivering service excellence.

In this position, you'll work closely with the General Superintendent, project coordinators, and sales teams to align project timelines, control costs, and identify opportunities for growth. You'll provide hands-on leadership in the field-coaching teams, ensuring jobsite readiness, and supporting training programs to strengthen technical skills and customer service.

Position Summary

The mission of the Field Project Superintendent is to create and drive world class performance by the RK Service Team. Responsible for performing a wide range of trade specific services for industrial and commercial clients.

Role Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe work environment by continually reviewing work site conditions, team members' safety gear and adherence to safe work practices, and the team's understanding of their authority to stop work and report unsafe conditions.
  • Work with field personnel on a continual basis to ensure the quality of work and positive customer interactions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with General Superintendent (GS) regarding project progress, concerns, etc.
  • Ensure project teams are prepared with the proper equipment and materials for each days' work, in advance, and confirm proper check outs at the end of each day.
  • Identify opportunities to expand field personnel's skill levels with in the field training. Coach field teams on processes to make teams more organized and efficient.
  • Responsible for field team members accurate reporting of time, attendance, collaboration with GS on team members annual performance reviews, team or individual kudos and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Field oversight of all HVAC projects: Review equipment and materials before scheduling jobs to identify any potential issues. Review handovers with general superintendent (GS.) Instruct field leads/foremen as needed.
  • Responsible for control of hours and materials to maintain project profitability.
  • Working with GS to create project timelines within a 3-month window.
  • Assist GS with financial review of all projects that do not hit target margin on completion to identify areas of strength and/ or of concern for future projects.
  • Work with GS and project coordinator to change internal processes and procedures as needed to improve communication and efficiency for the field/office teams.
  • Analyze crew members to identify areas of technical weakness, customer relations deficiencies, organizational/strategical needs to help determine appropriate classes, whether in RK programs, vendor programs, etc. to assist in raising the proficiency level of the entire team.
  • Identify team members to be mentored to allow them to rise to the next level as the number of team members grows.
  • Potentially assist GS in creating a project specific apprenticeship program to fulfill long term needs of the project group.
  • Work with GS and Sales team on more complex bids, job walks as needed if GS is not available or input is required. Assist in evaluating if potential opportunities fit the current team structure and capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Indirect supervision.
  • Requires the use of advanced techniques and knowledge within his/her function.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of applicable principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments.
  • Makes decisions independently regarding complexities and methods.
  • Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters.
  • Liaison to groups within and outside of his/her organization with responsibility to act independently regarding matters pertaining to his/her function.
  • College/University graduate with 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
  • Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations.
  • Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
  • Work in all types of weather.
  • Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
  • Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs.
