Methodist Hospital is looking to hire a Billing Specialist to join our Pharmacy team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Billing Technician is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medication claims and collections. This role requires strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage billing workflows, audit reimbursement records, handle deposits and cash drawer operations, and resolve billing inquiries. The technician ensures compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations and acts as a liaison between Pharmacy, Patient Accounting, external vendors, and patients. Additional duties may be assigned to support departmental needs.

This position is responsible for accurate billing, financial reimbursement, and cash handling for inpatient, home infusion, and outpatient pharmacy. This work requires pharmacy technician and finance experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday daytime shifts
  • 40 hrs weekly / 1.0 FTE

Required Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Five or more years pharmacy technician experience.
  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
    • Must be registered with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
    • Certification as CPhT through either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Typing and computer skills required including use of Epic and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
    • Knowledge of pharmaceutical products.
    • Knowledge of insurance reimbursement.
    • Math aptitude is required.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Time and task management, prioritizing, and organizational skills
    • Ability to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical products.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with office software programs.
  • Accounting and billing skills
  • Knowledge of Inpatient, Outpatient, and Home Infusion pharmacy operations
