Job Description

Originate first mortgage loans, promote the Bank's and its lending services to the real estate community and help to identify and serve the community's financial needs through home loan counseling, real estate seminars and by participating in and promoting the Bank's community activities. Responsible for administering the Loan function in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Bank. Responsible for attracting and gaining new loan prospects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Solicit first mortgage loans; personally interview all loan applicants; inform prospective loan clients of the Bank's underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations
  • Originate individual loans pursuant to the Bank's loan policies and procedures
  • Research new legislation and regulations that may affect the Bank's residential lending policies
  • Ensure compliance with new regulations by advising senior management and implementing appropriate changes
  • Establish, maintain and expand a loan sourcing network for generating future business
  • Personally respond to phone inquiries concerning loan products, and services
  • Operate and maintain an efficient loan underwriting and closing process that exceeds customer needs and are consistent with the Bank's credit risk management philosophy and principles
  • Communicate with attorneys, appraisers and other vendors to ensure a timely and efficient process and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct mortgage seminars and First-Time buyer workshops providing additional exposure for the Bank
  • Collaborate with management to develop and maintain strong mutually beneficial business relationships
  • Actively participate and provide input into overall Bank management through committee assignments and other tasks
  • Provide training for loan personnel as directed by management
  • Provide management with pipeline reports and loan status information as required
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain loan files for assigned borrowers
  • Prepare, maintain and reconcile the Bank's (new) construction loan portfolio. Advance funds to builders upon requisition requests
  • Prepare and distribute the loan rate changes
  • Actively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers and prospects
  • Perform additional duties as requested, needed or assigned

Experience and Skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Extensive knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of real estate lending practices and related areas
  • Knowledge of department support structures, resources and personnel
  • Strong analytical skills and decision making ability
  • Strong sales, managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of secondary market practices, underwriting procedures, lending laws and procedures for real estate lending
  • Strong organizational, communication and public relations skills particularly in working with documentation that requires special handling
  • Ability to build strong relationships and alliances across the organization; ability to adapt to change; ability to multi-task; reliable and highly self-motivated
  • Superior customer service skills; exceed customers' expectations
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Established contacts in community for loan referral sources

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor Degree in business or finance plus 3 or more plus years' experience in mortgage and secondary market underwriting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook
