Transportation Analyst - Carrier Development

Description

Primary Duties: -




  • Drives the operational excellence spirit by constantly working towards the most efficient, repeatable and scalable processes and solutions that are delivered in a timely and quality manner



  • Supports development, setup and maintenance of internal and external metrics and KPI's



  • Adheres to a standard schedule to produces metrics and meet deliverable dates



  • Establishes effective cross-departmental working relationships



  • Provides timely and accurate communication of project statuses



  • Supports industry benchmarking activities to develop meaningful, best in class metrics



  • Supports Account Managers in compiling analytics and presentations for periodic business reviews with customers



  • Supports internal annual customer review process



  • Performs freight cost, service, and carrier management studies



  • Identifies savings and profitability improvement opportunities by analyzing client shipping patterns and carrier rate trends



  • Assumes responsibility for data collection, data cleansing and scope documentation for the more complex network studies and projects



  • Collaborates with Engineering to build applications that utilize the Company's Optimization and BI tools



  • Develops methods of measuring and reporting operational efficiencies and effectiveness



  • Performs ad-hoc reporting as needed



  • Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor

    Requirements:



  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Industrial Engineering or other related field from a 4 year college or university



  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience with analysis and reporting; or an equivalent combination of both education and training



  • Experience with TMS systems



  • Experience performing account benchmarking and generating non-standard KPI's relevant to account



  • Knowledge of transportation industry standard KPI's for cost and service



  • Knowledge of the use of business intelligence to gather and display relevant information



  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and processes



  • PC literacy to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as SQL



  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals



  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists



  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form



  • Ability to combine business acumen and analytical expertise to provide insights that drive both operational and strategic benefits



  • Ability to generate quality outputs in a timely manner with limited supervision

    Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
