The Residential Energy team at Tesla is seeking a Senior Business Development Analyst to lead techno-economic analysis for innovative residential energy solutions. In this role, you will develop optimization and financial models to evaluate product economics while supporting the creation of new commercial offerings across Tesla's energy ecosystem, including third-party ownership (TPO), vehicle-to-everything (V2X), and home energy management (HEMS) solutions. Thriving in Tesla's fast-paced, mission-driven environment, you will combine expertise in energy market analysis with a collaborative mindset to translate complex data insights into strategic business recommendations, shaping the future of Tesla's residential energy portfolio.
What You'll Do
- Develop energy optimization and financial models for Tesla's residential energy products, including solar, Solar Roof, Powerwall, and V2X systems, to maximize economic value
- Analyze utility tariffs and wholesale electricity markets to assess impacts on distributed solar, storage, and V2X system value
- Evaluate virtual power plant (VPP) and grid service opportunities across global markets
- Support the development of financing solutions like third-party ownership (TPO) models to enhance affordability of Tesla's solar and storage products
- Collaborate with product, sales, and policy teams to identify new markets and opportunities for residential solar and storage expansion
- Contribute to Tesla's home energy management (HEMS) solutions for optimization of behind-the-meter assets
- Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years of experience in the electricity industry with expertise in energy product economics
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Strong technical background in financial modeling and quantitative analysis of energy systems
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development
- Experience with optimization frameworks and techno-economic analysis tools
- Ability to structure complex business problems into analytical frameworks with clear assumptions
- Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to executive stakeholders

Expected Compensation
$108,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
