Optum Cyber Defense's Breach & Attack Simulation team conducts effectiveness testing against real-time cyber security threats by measuring the detection and response of security tools. The team is responsible for testing comprehensive, real-world scenarios that will change the way environments are secured and monitored.

As the Breach & Attack Simulation Analyst you will be responsible for mapping potential attack vectors, analyze and measure effectiveness of security tool response, and provide recommendations for improvement.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Think like an attacker, probe, and identify potential attack vectors
  • Analyze and research potential security gaps for remediation opportunities
  • Deliver technical analysis based on simulation results
  • Creating and maintaining documentation (P&Ps) used by the team
  • Drive recommendation efforts based on simulation findings and analysis
  • Use threat intelligence data to locate appropriate testing content

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of information security experience or 4-year degree in cyber
  • 1+ years of experience querying for log data (e.g. SIEM platforms and databases) or relevant experience
  • 1+ years of network concepts experience
  • Familiarity with incident response case management
  • Familiarity with common network and endpoint security tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security+, GSEC, or other relevant security certification(s)
  • 1+ years of experience working in red team, pen testing, or vulnerability scanning roles
  • Experience with breach and attack tools such as AttackIQ or Mandiant Security Validation

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.27 to $50.48 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
