REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Behavioral Health Clinician (Therapist) within the Crisis Intervention & Support Division within the Human Services Department.

General Description
Provides counseling, screening, assessment, and intervention to individuals and families.

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, gerontology, psychology, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment.

Requires one (1) year in social services casework, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment.

Requires six (6) months of clinical case management may also be required.

Special Requirements
May be required to work nights/weekends/holidays.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License for duration of appointment.

Preferences

Experience working with victims of sexual violence, human trafficking and child abuse.

Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Creole and/or English/Portuguese

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Conduct ongoing individual, group and family counseling sessions with victims of child abuse, human trafficking or sexual violence and their non-offending family members.

Evaluate and assess the needs of clients and develop treatment plans.

Complete psychosocial evaluations, prepares comprehensive clinical summaries, and makes treatment recommendations.

Prepare progress notes, reports, and correspondence on assigned clients using computer-based office applications and maintains accurate and timely client records.

Provide direct support to clients in coordination with legal and social services as appropriate. May coordinate clients' involvement in judicial system to insure that clients have an understanding of the legal process.

Represent the agency in community events, educational workshops, staffing, and stakeholder meetings.

May testify in judicial processes as an expert witness and/or provide deposition and court testimony.

Attend staff meetings and scheduled training sessions.

Assist clients with completing crime victim compensation and relocation assistance applications.

Confers with program participants, their families and/or other care-givers regarding issues of treatment.

May supervise staff and interns in the absence of the program supervisor or as assigned by the program supervisor.

May conduct forensic or extended forensic interviews.

Assists with special projects assigned by the supervisor.

Performs related work as assigned.
