Job Description

SUMMARY

Manager of Shipping and Receiving Operations to lead and optimize our end-to-end shipping and receiving functions. This role is responsible for overseeing logistics planning, carrier management, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction across all shipping channels. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in transportation, supply chain, and team leadership to drive operational efficiency and scalability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members. Promotes and reinforces a culture of safety
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with all M&H Valve teammates: management to direct reports.
  • Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and related records to determine shipping priorities and workflow.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for shipping and delivery operations aligned with company goals.
  • Accountable for maintaining inventory accuracy through the regular execution and oversight of inventory audits.
  • Lead and manage teams across shipping, receiving, delivery, and logistics functions.
  • Oversee and direct the forklift operator fleet.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure timely order fulfillment and expedition.
  • Champion and improve ERP system utilization to streamline operations
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
  • Implement and optimize shipping technologies and systems (e.g., TMS, WMS).
  • Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs such as on-time delivery, shipping cost per unit, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Foundry, Machine Shop, Sales, Scheduling and other McWane companies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and reporting for shipping and delivery operations.
  • Resolve escalated issues related to delivery delays, damages, or customer complaints.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a mid-size team that includes a supervisor, clerks and unionized labor staff.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale shipping and delivery operations.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., ERP, TMS, WMS).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
