GMS and its family of companies operate a network of nearly 300 building product distribution yards, and more than 100 tool sales and service centers, for customers across the U.S. and Canada. The Field Support Center in Tucker, Georgia serves each GMS location, providing the support needed to enable local teams to deliver outstanding service to contractors and builders in their local communities.

Position Summary:


The Purchasing Project Analyst executes strategic sourcing initiatives, national vendor programs, and business development projects across a nationwide network of subsidiaries. This role is responsible for managing assigned projects from initiation through completion, performing data analysis to guide decision-making, and ensuring timely follow-through on procurement-related initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work cross-functionally.



Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Execute strategic purchasing strategies and vendor programs across hundreds of subsidiary locations.
  • Develop and oversee proficiency in AI-powered sourcing software; leverage its capabilities to interpret procurement data to identify and implement cost savings opportunities.
  • Develop and manage dashboards to measure progress towards company goals.
  • Manage project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively recommend and implement solutions.
  • Partner with internal departments, subsidiaries, and suppliers to ensure smooth program implementation and adoption.
  • Negotiate programs and pricing with suppliers by utilizing data-driven insights.
  • Ensure leadership and key stakeholders are educated on strategic sourcing initiatives, national vendor programs and business development projects by creating presentations, reports, and summaries.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, supplier performance, and cost drivers.



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, project coordination, or business analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data tools.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with large, multi-location organizations preferred.

Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 85-90% of the time.
  • Must be able to travel 10-15% of the time.
  • Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
