A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline.

We are seeking a Website Developer/508-Compliance Specialist to support NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center

Primary Function:

This role is responsible for managing and updating web-based information, ensuring all digital content complies with NOAA Fisheries business rules and Section 508 accessibility standards. The specialist will work closely with NEFSC communications, IT staff, and the NOAA Fisheries Web Council to ensure content consistency and accessibility. They will lead auditing, migration, and rewriting of existing materials, provide 508 compliance training, and support internal teams transitioning to compliant web platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Maintain NEFSC content dashboards for ongoing content updates and revisions
  • Audit, prioritize, and reformat existing web content per NOAA Fisheries policies
  • Administer NEFSC content in the NOAA Fisheries Drupal CMS
  • Ensure web materials and applications meet Section 508 standards
  • Provide help desk support and train staff on 508-compliant content creation
  • Convert existing noncompliant files into accessible formats
  • Support IT Change Control Board with accessibility requirements and compliance reviews
  • Deliver monthly progress reports detailing accomplishments, issues, and recommendations



Compensation: Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated and total compensation will vary depending on candidates' depth of experience. This is a full-time position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 7+ years of experience or 10+ years of direct relevant experience
  • Proven experience managing content in Drupal-based CMS platforms
  • Deep understanding of Section 508 accessibility compliance across document types
  • Experience reformatting complex scientific or technical materials for compliance
  • Familiarity with NOAA web content business rules
  • Strong QA/QC skills for web content and applications
  • Experience training staff on 508 standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
  • Ability to work with staff unfamiliar with web and accessibility standards
