About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and strategic Core Account Manager to join our high-performing sales team, overseeing key institutional relationships across the Northeast U.S. territory.

This position calls for a dynamic and results-driven professional to manage and grow a portfolio of institutional accounts. This role is responsible for deepening customer relationships, driving revenue retention and growth, and delivering data-informed solutions that support research and teaching outcomes.

How you will make an impact:

  • Strategic Account Management:
    Independently manage a portfolio of institutional accounts, developing and executing comprehensive account plans that align with customer goals and organizational priorities.
  • Customer Relationship Development:
    Identify and engage key stakeholders to strengthen relationships, expand product adoption, and uncover new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Data-Driven Insights & Risk Mitigation:
    Analyze usage and engagement data to assess account health, identify trends, and proactively address potential risks or service gaps.
  • Revenue Retention & Growth:
    Lead the renewal and renegotiation of journal and non-journal agreements, ensuring compliance and maximizing customer value. Identify cross-selling opportunities based on institutional needs.
  • Customer Research & Market Intelligence:
    Conduct in-depth research on customer institutions and market trends to inform strategic outreach and tailor engagement strategies.
  • Consultative Sales & Negotiation:
    Act as a trusted advisor by recommending content solutions that address gaps in collections and support institutional goals. Facilitate data-informed negotiations to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Pipeline & CRM Management:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions in the CRM system, following established sales processes.
  • Team Collaboration & Delegation:
    Strong cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the publishing industry, preferably in academic or scholarly communications
  • Proven success in selling and managing academic research subscriptions
  • Ability to assess and diagnose institutional research and teaching priorities at the subject level
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and managing cross-sell opportunities beyond journal content
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on professional email correspondence and stakeholder engagement
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, managing a personal book of business with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in business applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce.com, and Power BI
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies in sales, research, or publishing workflows is a plus

We are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
