AVP Financial Institutions Claims

  • Location: USA -Chicago, Ill, Plano, TX and New York

  • The salary range for this role is:$ 150,500 - $282,000

The Opportunity

As AVP, Financial Institutions Claims, you will lead the resolution of the most technically complex claims across our Financial Institutions portfolio. You will partner strategically with our underwriting teams to provide exceptional service to our brokers and customers. This role requires strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively with both claims and underwriting teams, as well as a strong customer service and risk selection mindset.

Responsibilities:

*Manage a high-severity portfolio of asset manager, bank, and insurance company claims with precision and strategic oversight in a timely manner, within appropriate authority and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, statutes, best practices and Department of Insurance (DOI) compliance.

*Collaborate with underwriters to identify, understand and address novel or complex risks.

*Analyze, develop and determine appropriate case reserves on all assigned claim files and recommend changes where necessary to ensure actuarial accuracy.

*Drive the highest level of customer care, responsiveness, and satisfaction when managing assigned claims to deliver superior claim outcomes.

*Serve as the subject matter expert for Financial Institution claims, rooted in thought leadership, thorough research and investigations, and a deep understanding in legal frameworks and policy interpretation.

*Collaborate with internal counsel to ensure achievement of desired outcomes and effective litigation management strategies.

*Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective claim outcomes.

*Represent QBE by leading client meetings and participating in and attending industry seminars or authoring articles pertaining to financial lines subjects.

*Champion continuous improvement and innovation in claims processes and technology.

*Take ownership for personal development and career planning, and development of required skills, tools, techniques, and technology to continually add value to the organization.

*Manage a diverse and extensive portfolio of management and professional liability claims with varying levels of complexity and activity.
*Collaborate with internal resources to resolve difficult claims situations and drive resolution opportunities with internal and external stakeholders

Required Education

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience
* 8 years relevant experience

Preferred Education

* Juris Doctor

Preferred Experience

*Experience handling public company D&O claims
*Experience in other segments of financial lines industry, including agency, retail or wholesale brokerages, third-party administrator, risk management, legal or other roles

Preferred Knowledge

* Advanced working knowledge of current and possible future financial lines products, policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the business and organization; knows how the business works
*Advanced working knowledge of relevant legal and technical issues for all US jurisdictions
*Advanced working knowledge of insurance policy and contract language
*Advanced working knowledge of, those operating in the financial lines space, including attorneys, mediators, judges and experts

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
