Lab Assistant (LAB AST 2)

Under supervision of the Lab Manager, this position is responsible providing lab, receiving and office support for accurate and precise testing of agricultural samples, such as soil, feed, water and plants in a high production work environment. Perform a variety of tasks such as gravimetric testing, weighing, extractions, sample preparation, confirmation and reports for clients. Also assist in other general lab tasks and coordinating lab's safety program.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• High school degree/GED
• No minimum required.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Skilled in answering phones and interacting with others in a friendly and courteous manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred experience in multi tasking. Analytical balance work, pipetting. Using databases.
• Knowledge of EH&S requirements for handling gases, chemicals, and chemical waste.

Department Overview

The UC Davis Analytical Laboratory is a core support facility of the UC Davis College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The laboratory performs analyses on selected constituents of soil, feed, plant, water and waster water in support of agricultural and environmental research. Analytical Lab also provides quality data to other academic institutions, research companies and regulatory feed testing.
