Carpenter

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Loading and unloading materials and equipment
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Following instructions from supervisors and implementing plans
• Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties
• Interacts with customers in a professional manner
• Safely perform all aspects of job in compliance with all federal, state & local laws
• Contribute to a positive team environment
• Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times
• Demonstrate high levels of good housekeeping practices

Requirements:

• High School degree and/or equivalent is required
• Math skills including using a tape measure and angles
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blue prints
• Ability to use mechanical tools, gauges, and machines
• Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, able to multi-task and have good problem-solving skills
• Have the ability to use mechanical and electrical tools as well as test and measuring equipment to assemble and/or troubleshoot equipment
• Overtime is mandatory during August campus turnover, including weekend work. May need to work overtime in other months.
• Prior experience in general carpentry, hanging doors, roofing, windows installation, as well as hand tools such as utility knife, hammer, deglazing tools, etc.
• Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Assisting with snow removal is mandatory.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and otherwise maneuver throughout shift
• Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
• A good understanding of safety procedures
• Willingness to learn and be flexible
• Positive attitude and great interpersonal skills
