The Ball State University Sports Facilities department has an opportunity for 2nd shift Field/Facilities Attendant on the beautiful Ball State University campus. What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Under supervision, perform duties related to maintaining and cleaning the Physical Education and Athletic Facilities complying with appropriate regulations and codes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform duties related to maintenance and cleaning of Physical Education and Athletic Facilities, include the upkeep of floor fixtures, swimming balconies, courts, lavatories, offices, trash disposal, sweeping and/or shoveling sidewalks, and changing lamps and tubes in light fixtures.

Requires the physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly. Task requires the visual ability to perceive depth, distinguish color, and inspect areas. Task requires the ability to use mowers, tractors, liners, field equipment, custodial equipment, trucks, hand tools, etc. Employees are exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, vibration, etc. Task requires the mental ability to analyze, be precise, read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions, and receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions.

2. Prepare set-ups and take down equipment as assigned.

Requires the physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly. Task requires the visual ability to perceive depth, distinguish color, and inspect areas. Task requires the ability to use mowers, tractors, liners, field equipment, custodial equipment, trucks, hand tools, etc. Employees are exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, vibration, etc. Task requires the mental ability to analyze, be precise, read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions, and receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions.

3. Read and/or interpret sketches, drawings, specifications, plans, manuals, etc.

Requires the physical ability to finger, grasp, feel, talk, and hear, and exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Task requires the visual ability to perceive depth and distinguish color. Employees are exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. 4. Line and mark athletic fields, floors and courts; paint and maintain bleachers and other facilities.

5. Seed, fertilize, mow, irrigate, and otherwise maintain outdoor grounds and facilities and implement proper preventative maintenance systems.

6. Perform preventative maintenance, minor repair, and operate all types of athletic equipment; report need for major repairs to supervisor or appropriate personnel.

8. Maintain security of rooms and buildings.

Requires the physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently. Task requires the visual ability to perceive depth distinguish color and inspect areas. Task requires use of keys, hand tools, trucks, etc. Employees are exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, vibration, etc. Task requires the mental ability to analyze, be precise, read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions, and receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions.

9. Acquire and maintain knowledge of job-related chemicals and environmental concerns, utilize proper chemicals for field and facility maintenance and upkeep.

Requires the physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Task requires the visual ability to perceive depth, distinguish color, and inspect areas. Task requires use of sprayers, mixing and measuring devices, etc. Employees are exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, vibration, etc. Task requires the mental ability to analyze, be precise, read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions, and receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

2. One year of either custodial experience or grounds experience required.

3. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and be insurable under the University's auto fleet policy.

4. Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and University policies and procedures, communications, and perform basic mathematical calculations.

5. Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.

6. Must possess or obtain forklift certification within a reasonable time period as determined by Ball State University if the position requires it.

7. Must possess or obtain aerial work platform certification within a reasonable time period as determined by Ball State University if the position requires it.

8. Must be 18 years or older.

Preferred Qualifications: Athletic facilities operation experience.
