Amsoil is currently seeking a Director of Operations.
The Director of Operations (Dir of Ops), Manufacturing, oversees the Safety, Production, Inventory/Receiving, Facilities and Maintenance, functions across the Superior business unit. The Director of Operations will manage his/her teams in a constructive, respectful manner, consistent with AMSOIL's corporate culture. This role is responsible for helping to establish and manage the annual manufacturing and facility maintenance budgets. The Director of Ops, reporting into the COO, establishes short- and long-term capital plan investment strategies for manufacturing and facilities maintenance, ensures facilities, materials and equipment meet functional and regulatory requirements in support of manufacturing, and sets and manages key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the site and to ensure cost-effective delivery, meeting current and future customer demands. Ensures all personnel receive the necessary training to perform all job functions to meet AMSOIL safety and quality standards.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Personnel Management:
- Be accountable for safety and act as a champion for safety in all aspects of the work site.
- Ensures all employees understand and support the site vision and live the key values inherent in our company culture.
- Develop and implement staffing plans, through capacity and labor planning activities, including writing justifications for personnel additions as well as managing standard work implementation for the site.
- Accountable for effective performance management and leadership of all personnel at the site. This includes performance reviews, goal-setting, production goals, disciplinary action, career development and succession planning.
- Provide thoughtful and constructive coaching in order to improve performance and develop and optimize individual and team performance.
- Drive the cultural development of a two shift operation.
Project Management:
- Play a leading role in the Capital Expenditure Control System, including capital planning, cost tracking, and ongoing monitoring of strategy effectiveness.
- Effectively manage RFQ process and act as Project Manager of large capital projects.
- Responsible for strategic capacity planning for the anticipated future growth of the company
- Responsible for productivity, output and throughput as well as the management systems of the site.
Quality and Waste:
- Accountable for AMSOIL quality performance through the establishment of documented standards and fostering a culture of quality performance throughout the site.
- Identify opportunities to increase production capacity, optimize asset performance, and maintain operational flexibility/agility while minimizing unnecessary costs.
Production Capacity Management:
- Work with the Planning Team to develop improved demand forecasts to allow for better level-loading of personnel and assets.
- Develop and implement documented standard operating procedures for all manufacturing operations.
- Develop methods and establish systems to track and optimize productivity through work standards, monitored metrics, and performance targets to ensure an effective return on assets.
- Evaluate production schedules and labor requirements to provide work direction, effectively balance labor resources, and provide feedback on planning.
- Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent operational delays.
Operational Support:
- Perform duties as a key member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Obtain training and awareness to qualify as an alternate Qualified Individual (QI) for spill response incidents.
- Lead the site in company Safety Programs: Safety WO Systems Management, Steering Team Member, and Safety Committee involvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. * 10 + years' experience in a manufacturing facility. * Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. * Experience managing a large staff across multiple shifts
Certificates/Licenses Required: * Valid Driver's License.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS & IMPACT ON SERVICES/OPERATIONS:
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility: * Supervises: Senior Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Controls Engineer, Receiving/Inventory Control Supervisor and +70 indirect reports across multiple shifts
Internal/External Relationships: * Entire Organization Support: Industrial, Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, Operations Planning * Direct relationship in Capital Planning Process with Senior Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: * Excellent PC skills including MS Office Suite. * Experience with JDE manufacturing system or a similar ERP manufacturing system. * Strong management skills with the ability to supervise multiple teams. * Analytical background with solid problem-solving capabilities. * Strong written and oral communications. * Ability to create accountability and to lead by example - proven leadership experience. * Excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities. * Project management experience. * Strong planning skills. * Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work within a collaborative team environment. Ability to interact with, influence, and lead cross-functional teams as required. * Keen attention to detail. * Exceptional service orientation.
