POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Sr. Scientific Engineer Associate in Berkeley, CA.

Duties: Lead in the design, setup and conduct of laboratory and field experiments related to fundamental hydrological, mechanical and biogeochemical processes in soils, sediments and rocks. Setup and conduct laboratory analysis of geomaterial samples. Conduct data processes, analytics and communicate results to the research group. Develop and apply numerical methods, including machine learning tools, to improve understanding of hydro biogeochemical processes, such as evapotranspiration and carbon/nutrient dynamics. Aid in sensor development, testing, and calibration. These could be prototype, one-of-a-kind, or replicated measurement systems. Write data processing and visualization codes using R, Matlab, Python, Jupyter notebook, or C++. Lead or contribute to scientific publications and presentations. May telecommute.

Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $104,936 to $167,100 per year depending upon candidates' full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Hydrology, Ecology, or related and 3 years of experience in job offered or in a related occupation. Position requires:

1. Collecting and conducting sample analysis;

2. Collaborate with and communicate findings to members of the research team and beyond;

3. Statistics and data analysis tools;

4. Research in environmental, hydrological, and biogeochemical science;

5. Scientific and technical writing including reports, thesis and publications; and

6. Scientific data processing, analysis, and visualization.
