TPM Operations Supervisor

Location: Dayton, Ohio

Multiple Positions, Varying Shifts

The TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of TPM Packaging operators and/or TPM Processing operators, supervising and conducting predictive and preventative maintenance, line efficiency, safety and food safety, quality and process control checks of high-speed packaging and processing machines. This leader will be responsible for making sure all production lines and equipment are running accordingly in all manufacturing processes. In addition, this position will provide oversight to the area team & managing the sanitation, changeovers, set ups and start-ups. Our successful TPM Operations Supervisors will provide guidance, coaching, and training with a high degree of focus on the development of the TPM operations technician team members. The TPM Operations Supervisor is accountable for providing clear direction, leadership, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, coaching, and on-the-job assignments. This is being done as the organization transforms into a Continuous Improvement and Lean environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Supervise TPM operators on packaging and/or processing machines, consisting of the processing equipment (fryers, ovens, tanks, silos, grinders, washers, belts, conveyors, OMS, etc.) and packaging equipment (OMS, scale, bagger, seal check, robot, belts, conveyors, etc.).
  • Supervise 15-50 operators and other technicians.
  • Maintain 90% or higher efficiency rate on each processing and/or packaging machine.
  • Processing: make sure all paperwork/documentation is completed correctly.
  • Packaging: make sure all paperwork/documentation is completed correctly. First case verification must be done at the beginning of each shift and after each change over.
  • Complete all quality and process control documents at the required frequency.
  • Champion the team to practice all predictive, preventative, and emergency response machine maintenance, utilize MMS & critical part escalation, complete work orders & parts checkout practices. Understand and attend to mechanical needs of the area equipment, such as baggers, scales, flavoring applicators baggers, and connected equipment
  • Directs employees and plant floor activities to achieve a consistent and high-quality product
  • Ensures that behaviors, practices and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety and sanitation rules and principles
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Company regulatory requirements
  • Maintains positive employee relations, including participating in evaluation and training of hourly personnel
  • Tracks employees' work performance and attendance to ensure performance metrics are met, including resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Utilizes metrics/data to evaluate and improve work processes, as well as maintain line related system and regulatory documentation
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and cross-functional teams to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Plans and establishes work schedules


Education and Work Experience



  • 4-year degree in a related business or technical field such as food science, operations management, or engineering OR equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a production management or supervision role, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Strong leadership capabilities to help take our team to the next level
