Job Description Summary:

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inventory management activities to ensure optimal stock levels, accuracy, and efficiency. This role plays a critical part in reducing inventory discrepancies, optimizing working capital, and driving process improvements within Operations. The Inventory Control Supervisor will lead and develop the Inventory Control Team across multiple sites, providing strategic direction and ensuring alignment with company goals. This position collaborates with Supply Chain, Mission Assurance, Operations, Finance, and Warehouse teams to implement best practices and enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the Senior Inventory Control Specialist and multi-site stock clerks, providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting professional growth and cross-functional communication.
  • Set clear objectives and monitor the team's performance against key metrics.
  • Ensure proper training and development of direct reports to improve skills and overall effectiveness.
  • Lead and oversee inventory control processes to maintain high accuracy levels across all stocking locations.
  • Execute the Cycle Count Program and report discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Inventory Control Specialist to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation.
  • Enforce regular physical inventory audits and collaborate with Finance and Material Planning on reconciliation activities.
  • Identify inefficiencies in inventory processes and implement improvements to enhance accuracy and reduce waste.
  • Leverage MRP and EMS systems (e.g., EPICOR and Factory Logix) to streamline and automate inventory control processes.
  • Partner with the Senior Inventory Control Specialist to identify and resolve issues related to negative on-hand inventory and support supplier and 3PL reconciliations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Supply Planning, Demand Planning, and Operations teams to align inventory levels with business needs.
  • Support Finance with inventory valuation, reconciliation, and reporting for month-end and year-end close.
  • Act as the key liaison between warehouse operations, corporate teams, and the direct report group to ensure alignment on inventory-related issues.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory tracking systems, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Develop and monitor inventory KPIs (e.g., inventory turns, accuracy rates, shrinkage) to drive performance improvements.
  • Ensure direct reports provide consistent and accurate inventory reports, highlighting discrepancies and trends.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory management policies, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Oversee proper documentation and controls to support audits and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage inventory disposition strategies, including slow-moving and obsolete inventory management

Skills/Abilities

  • Technical expertise in Excel, relational databases, dealing with large datasets from various sources, and writing complex calculations.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Analyst or similar role, with a strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to management.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and problem-solving.

Education

  • HS/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
  • Proven leadership experience managing a team in inventory control or warehouse operations.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP/EMS systems (e.g., EPICOR, Factory Logix, Eyelit).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or other analytics tools is a plus.
  • Experience with inventory reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with cross-functional teams.
