Summary:

The SR Analyst TMS Reporting is responsible for gathering reporting requirements for the business unit, retrieving data from various systems, compiling and analyzing the data and producing reports, applications, or Business Intelligence solutions that meet business needs and drive business value. From data analysis conducted, recommends improvements to business processes and outlines new operational procedures to ensure accurate reporting output. The position also plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and on-time delivery of weekly billings to customers.



Job Duties: -





  • Determines operation objectives for Transportation applications and reports by studying the business functions and gathering requirements from operations users or customers



  • Based on requirements gathered, designs and develops reports and systems applications, and records requirements and design plan within specification documents



  • Creates data extracts and takes a deep dive into the data by interpreting and analyzing complex data



  • Validates data between source and target systems and verifies that any new data fields are available and populated with correct information. If discrepancies are found, reviews associated MercuryGate XML or other system source files and alerts the Integration and BI teams of incorrect mapping or other data issues.



  • Identifies issues with data, reconciles, presents discrepancies, provides suggestions and insight to TM managers, Operations leaders and external customers (e.g., how to change/correct data so as to be removed from reports)



  • Provides Cognos system administration in support of Cognos 10 BI configuration, data management through Cognos Framework Manager, and is responsible for server restarts, cleanup and other maintenance matters



  • Ensures TM data warehouse is updated accurately on a daily basis by extracting missing information from MercuryGate system to the data warehouse, which allows for accurate billing through Cognos



  • Responsible for monitoring the schedules or jobs through which reports are delivered for MercuryGate TMS, Mercury Edge, and Cognos, in order to present timely, up-to-date reports that meet customer and internal deadlines



  • Provides technical advice, training, and leadership to Transportation Logistics Engineer and other TM functional areas (Freight Pay, Central Billing and TM Operations)



  • Serves as the TM reporting lead for new implementations in the Mercury Gate system



  • Develops, implements and maintains TM procedures and standards to ensure integrity of data



  • Documents business procedures that impact outcome of data



  • Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor

    Requirements:




  • Bachelors degree from a 4 year college or university, emphasis in Logistics/Transportation preferred



  • Minimum 3 years of experience with report writing and data analysis; or an equivalent combination of both education and training



  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets, including data selection, pivot tables, formulas, functions, macros and VBA



  • Intermediate experience with SQL scripting, as it relates to data analysis, research or report development



  • Intermediate knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle and SQL server



  • Minimum 2 years experience working with reporting design tools such as Cognos, Business Objects, or MicroStrategy



  • Advanced user of Microsoft Access skilled in application development utilizing VBA



  • Experience with transportation management systems such as Mercury Gate or OTM required



  • PC literacy with a command of MS Office to include: Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint






  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals



  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual





  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists



  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form



  • Ability to combine business acumen and analytical expertise to provide insights that drive both operational and strategic benefits

    Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
