Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Biomedical Technician for the Office of Operations at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Responsible for designing, developing and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Ensures that the biomedical equipment is on compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Designs reviews for serviceability/reliability, service plan generation, service documentation and procedure development, defining service parts, outlining service training and tracking equipment performance.
  • Acts as an escalation point for resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Provides initial training to technical support personnel.
  • Travels throughout the field to provide onsite technical support and field test support.
  • Develops service kits and qualifies service replacement parts.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes technical problems. Resolves immediate issues and implements changes to prevent future problems.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical, Electrical/Electronic or Clinical Engineering plus three (3) years of appropriate technical experience necessary.
  • Five (5) years of technical experience should include responsibility in a scientific environment; related to the service and repair of both electronic and electromechanical equipment.
  • An Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering or Advanced Technical School diploma/certificate plus five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Electronics certification preferred.
  • Computer skills should include: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment and refrigeration are a plus.
