Overview

Southern Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Front Office Coordinator to join our team at our Providence Hospital location. This role is vital in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for our patients and their families. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact, responsible for greeting patients, managing appointments, and facilitating communication between patients and clinical staff.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Warmly greet and check in patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Register patients, verify insurance, and update demographic information.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments according to physician and office guidelines.
  • Collect co-pays and balances; issue receipts and maintain accurate records.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls; relay messages promptly and accurately.
  • Provide patients with necessary forms, instructions, and appointment details.
  • Record cancellations and reschedule appointments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lobby and front office area.
  • File charts and forms; ensure availability of office supplies and patient materials.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, state, and federal confidentiality regulations.
  • Support the US Oncology Compliance Program and uphold the Code of Ethics and Shared Values.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, commitment to quality, and high performance standards.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Must be present on-site during regular business hours.
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Exposure to clinical environments including communicable diseases and medical substances.
  • May require minimal travel to other office sites.
