At The Johns Hopkins White Marsh Surgery Center, the Lead Clinical Nurse will be the clinical resource for RN's that care for patients undergoing Colorectal, Gastroenterology, Opthalmology, Orthopedic and Plastic Surgical Proceedures, in addition to Pain Management Procedures.

The Lead Clinical Nurse is responsible for:



  • Working collaboratively with, and provides leadership for, a multidisciplinary health care team to optimize team performance by actively managing the scheduling of staff, regularly completing chart reviews, keeping provider preference cards up-to-date, ensuring supplies and equipment are easily available, and ensuring staff files are complete.
  • The Lead Clinical Nurse is at the bedside 50% of the time and in unit operations 50% of the time

  • Coordinating the total scope of care for a group of patients throughout their unit stay to achieve clinical, financial, and organizational outcomes.





  • Providing evidence-based care based on the nursing process, policies, procedures, and protocols of the Johns Hopkins Ambulatory Surgery Center



  • Mentoring and managing others to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care.



  • Promoting and identifying quality improvement initiatives (clinical, financial, operational) that are aligned with departmental and organizational safety and operational objectives.



  • Identifying methods to promote the cost-effective use of resources.





  • Completing all identified competencies and annual requirements for patient population, unit, department, and institution.



  • Assuming unit management functions as identified by the Assistant Manager/Manager.



  • Consistently demonstrates organization's core values.

Shift: Mon-Fri - no holidays or weekends - start/end time is flexible - 6:30a; 7a; 7:30a; 8a (8 hour shift)


Minimum Requirements:



  • Active RN Maryland State License or Compact license at time of hire
  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing
  • Active BLS from AHA or American Red Cross or Military Training Network
  • At least 3 years' recent experience as an RN with demonstrated leadership abilities


Salary Range: Minimum 43.93/hour - Maximum 68.09/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
