Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Genetics Transformation:

  • Perform Agrobacterium-mediated and/or biolistic transformation of plants.
  • Screen, select, and validate transgenic lines using molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, etc).

Plant Tissue Culture and Regeneration:

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain tissue culture protocols for regeneration and propagation of selected plant species.
  • Establish callus induction, organogenesis, and somatic embryogenesis systems as needed for transformation pipelines.

Genomics and Bioinformatics:

  • Participate in transcriptomic and genomic studies, including RNA-seq and genome resequencing.
  • Analyze data for gene expression profiling, differential gene expression, and pathway analysis.
  • Integrate genomic data with phenotypic observations to draw biological insights.

Research Documentation and Dissemination:

  • Maintain detailed experimental records and data management.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences and meetings.

RNA Interference (RNAi) :

  • Design and construct RNAi vectors targeting specific genes of interest.
  • Generate and analyze RNAi knockdown lines to assess gene function.

  • Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students as needed.
